Privacy policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

In short

  • No account, no name, no email address required.
  • No cookies: only anonymous audience measurement (number of visits and page views), without cookies or tracking from one visit to another.
  • Your IP address is never stored as is: only a scrambled fingerprint is kept, for 90 days at most, to prevent abuse.

Data controller

The publisher of the site (see the legal notice), who can be reached at espoirpco@gmail.com.

What is stored and why

  • IP address fingerprint: your IP address is turned into a fingerprint (hashed with a secret key) that can't be directly reversed. It is used to limit the number of searches and votes per visitor, and to count a search for the same title only once a day in the "Most searched" ranking. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting the service from abuse. Retention: 90 days at most.
  • Your ✅ / ❌ votes: the country, streaming service, title and your answer, linked to the fingerprint above. A ❌ creates a report that the publisher checks manually; this report contains no data about you.
  • Your searches: the searched title is kept to speed up later searches and build the ranking of popular titles. It is not linked to your identity.

What stays in your browser

The site keeps in your browser your votes from the last 24 hours (so it doesn't ask you again) and your language filters during your visit. This information isn't sent to the site and is only used to make it work, so it doesn't require consent. You can delete it by clearing your browser's site data.

Service providers

The site is hosted by Vercel (United States), which also provides audience measurement (Vercel Web Analytics: aggregated, anonymous data, without cookies). Its data is stored by Supabase, on servers located in London (United Kingdom, recognised by the European Union as providing an adequate level of protection). Reports are sent to the publisher via Discord, without any personal data. Providers based in the United States commit to protecting data according to European rules (Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).

To display posters, logos and flags, your browser loads them directly from Movie of the Night and jsDelivr servers, which therefore receive your IP address, as with any image loaded on the internet.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data. Write to espoirpco@gmail.com. As the site only knows IP address fingerprints, it may be impossible to find the data concerning you. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr), or with your local authority.
